How to score 90+ in Class 12 Accountancy: a Board 2027 plan

There are roughly three and a half months left before the board exam. Accountancy is a subject where full marks are possible, as long as you practise in the right order.

First, understand the paper

The CBSE Class 12 Accountancy theory paper is worth 80 marks, plus 20 marks for the project. The paper has two parts:

PartWhat it coversMarks
Part APartnership firms and company accounts60
Part BAnalysis of financial statements, cash flow statement (or computerised accounting)20

That means 60 marks come from Part A alone. Spend the most time on the partnership chapters.

The November to February plan

  1. November: all partnership chapters: fundamentals, goodwill, change in profit-sharing ratio, admission, retirement and death, dissolution. Solve at least 15–20 questions on your own after each chapter.
  2. December: share capital, debentures and the Part B chapters. For ratio analysis and cash flow, knowing the formulas isn't enough: solve 2 questions every day.
  3. January: full-length papers only, sitting for the full 3 hours. Make a list of your mistakes after each paper.
  4. February: go back to that list. Fewer new questions, zero repeated mistakes.

Where marks are lost

  • Leaving out the narration in journal entries
  • Not showing working notes. Even if the final answer is wrong, working notes earn step marks
  • An incomplete capital account format, or balance c/d on the wrong side
  • Mixing up operating, investing and financing activities in the cash flow statement
  • Running out of time because mock tests were never attempted in the full 3 hours

A tip from Sir: redo every question you got wrong the next day, without looking. That's real revision.

Finding it hard on your own?

RKG's Class 12 Fast Track Batch follows exactly this plan: 2 Nov to 25 Jan, a test every 6th class, and 3 full mocks in January, at both our Noida Sector 52 and Greater Noida West centres. The first 2 classes are free.
